Bawumia Has An Impeccable Integrity – Kwabena Agyepong | Politics

Former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong says the kind of leader Ghana needs now is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, stressing he is a man of integrity.

Kwabena Agyepong who was one of ten candidates who contested with Dr. Bawumia, has since the election of the Vice President as flagbearer of the NPP thrown his support behind him and campaigning with him across the country.

Speaking to Chiefs and people of Adaklu during a visit by the Vice President to the Volta Region, Kwabena Agyepong said Dr. Bawumia is “a man who has strong personal integrity. He has become Vice President for 8 years and nobody has been able to pick a speck of dirt on his shirt. That tells a lot. He has strong personal integrity”.

He continued; “He (Bawumia) understands people. He loves people and he cares for people. I do believe that he is the kind of a leader Ghanaians need.”

Kwabena Agyepong added the election of Bawumia, the first Muslim to lead a major political party in Ghana, has “put to bed the feeling that the NPP is an Akan party”.

Kwabena Agyapong further noted that Bawumia’s election as flagbearer is historic stating “many people did not expect that he would get the victory. There were 10 of us including myself in the contest but he was able to make history and win by 61% which is a figure a first-time aspirant has never had in our party’s history”.

“Not Adu Boahene, not Kufuor, not Nana Akufo-Addo got 61% on their first try. Dr. Bawumia got 61% on his first try in our party”, he added.

Kwabena Agyepong emphasized; “Bawumia commands all round support across the nation. He is a candidate who has the broad support from the Christians, Muslims and traditionalists. Wherever he has been, he shows respect.”
