Ghana goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been ranked as the fifth-best shot-stopper at the 2026 FIFA World Cup following his impressive performances during the group stage.

The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper has enjoyed a memorable tournament, helping the Black Stars reach the knockout stage for the first time in 16 years with a series of assured displays between the posts.

Asare featured in all three of Ghana’s group matches, coming on at halftime against Panama before playing the full 90 minutes in the goalless draw against England and the narrow 2-1 defeat to Croatia.

The 33-year-old has earned widespread praise for his commanding presence, crucial saves and composure under pressure, particularly in Ghana’s draw against England where he denied several clear scoring opportunities.

His performances have now been recognised with a place among the tournament’s top five goalkeepers, further underlining his impact on Ghana’s successful group-stage campaign.

Asare is expected to retain his place in goal when the Black Stars face Colombia in the Round of 32 on Saturday, July 4, as Ghana chase a place in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup.
