Abu Iddris, manager of late Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo Baah, has revealed that the actress passed away after battling cancer for two years.
Speaking in a phone interview with Ghana Weekend, Abu disclosed that Beverly passed away around 11:45 pm on Saturday, May 23, at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema.
Asked whether the actress had been ill, the manager confirmed that she had been fighting cancer for years.
“Yes, she’s been battling cancer for two years. It’s been a relentless war. She really fought hard and this is where it ended,” he said.
According to him, the cancer initially started as breast cancer but later spread. He, however, noted that it was genetic, as previously disclosed by the late actress in an old interview currently circulating on social media.
Abu further revealed that Beverly continued working and undergoing treatment despite her condition, describing her as a fighter who did her best to keep going through the difficult moments.
“We shot Pimps Paradise while she was still undergoing treatment. I mean she lived… she lived until the cancer overtook her. But she lived, she did her very best while fighting the cancer,” he shared.
He also disclosed that the actress travelled to the United States for treatment and was expected to remain there for further medical care due to the advanced treatment options available.
“In fact, she was in the USA for treatment. She was supposed to stay there for treatment. You know these western countries, they are advanced when it comes to some of these things, the drugs and all that. That is where her best chances would have been,” he said.
However, according to the manager, Beverly made the difficult decision to return to Ghana so she could spend her final moments with her children and family.

“But she chose to return to Ghana. She chose to come and spend her last days with her children. That’s who Beverly was. Tell the world that this is who Beverly was,” he added emotionally.
When asked whether there were any funeral preparations or arrangements underway, Abu noted that the news was still fresh and that the public would be updated in due time.
Meanwhile, colleagues and loved ones of the late actress have reportedly gathered at her family home to mourn with the bereaved family following the heartbreaking news.
