Ghana’s para powerlifting team has recorded another notable achievement at the ORAN World Para Powerlifting Championships 2026 in Algeria, with Isaac Nii Ayetey Tagoe winning bronze in the Men’s Up to 72kg category.
Competing against a strong international field, Tagoe delivered a determined performance to secure a podium finish, ranking 8th in the world and 4th in Africa. His result adds to Ghana’s growing reputation in para sports and highlights the country’s steady progress on the global stage.
The medal is also an important milestone in Ghana’s qualification pathway toward the LA 2028 Paralympic Games, where athletes are required to compete in several international events to accumulate ranking points and secure qualification slots.
Officials within the para sports community have called for increased investment and financial support to help athletes consistently compete abroad and improve Ghana’s chances at future global competitions.
