Newly appointed Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has described his latest role as the most demanding of his career, saying he is prepared to take on the responsibility of leading the Black Stars onto the world stage.

The veteran manager made the comments during his official unveiling at the Alisa Hotel in Accra ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the global tournament, which will be co-hosted by Canada, United States, and Mexico. Queiroz steps into the role at a critical moment, with expectations high as the team prepares to compete against top international sides.

“This is the biggest challenge of my entire career, and I am ready for that,” Queiroz said, adding that he intends to draw on “40 years of knowledge and experience” to guide the team. He stressed his commitment to delivering a strong campaign and expressed confidence in the squad’s potential.

Drawn in Group L, Ghana will face England, Croatia, and Panama. The Black Stars are set to open their campaign against Panama on 17 June, before taking on England and Croatia in their remaining group matches.
