The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has announced a 10-member Black Bombers squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, with experienced campaigner Abdul Wahid Omar leading the team.The squad comprises seven male and three female boxers who will represent Ghana in the boxing competition as the country targets medals at the multi-sport event.
Two-time Commonwealth Games medallist Abdul Wahid Omar will make a record fourth appearance at the Games in the 65kg division. The veteran is expected to spearhead Ghana’s medal ambitions alongside 13th African Games gold medallist Amadu Mohammed, who will compete in the 55kg category.
African Youth champion Desmond Pappoe (80kg) also features in the team, while Ebenezer Ankrah (60kg), who represented Ghana at the 2024 IBA World Youth Championships and the 2025 IBA World Men’s Boxing Championships, has earned a place in the squad.
The remaining male boxers are Precious Akai Nettey (70kg), Jibril Muntari (90kg) and Daniel Plange (+90kg).
Ghana’s women’s team consists of Police officer Ramatu Quaye (51kg), Ghana Army boxer Nancy Banfo (54kg) and promising youngster Adelaide Djabatey (57kg).
The technical team is headed by Dr. Ofori Asare, with Ben Tetteh, Daniel Lartekwei Lartey and Charles Quartey serving as coaches.
The Black Bombers will be aiming to build on Ghana’s proud boxing tradition and deliver another strong performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
