Maxwell Konadu has announced Ghana’s squad for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, with the Black Satellites poised to begin their campaign in Yamoussoukro, Cte d’Ivoire.

The team arrived in the Ivorian city on Friday and held its first training session on Saturday, stepping up preparations ahead of Monday’s Group B opener against Nigeria. The session focused on fine-tuning tactics and ensuring the squad is ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

Medeama SC youngster Kelvin Nkrumah has been entrusted with the captain’s armband and will lead the Black Satellites as they seek regional success. After the opening fixture against Nigeria, Ghana will take on Burkina Faso before concluding the group stage against Togo.

Konadu’s men will be aiming to progress to the knockout stage and mount a strong challenge for the WAFU B U-20 Championship title.

The tournament also serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. While Ghana is already assured of a place at the continental finals as hosts, the championship offers the Black Satellites a valuable platform to build momentum, strengthen team chemistry and measure themselves against some of West Africa’s brightest young talents ahead of the tournament.
