Black Stars have touched down in the Garden City of Kumasi to begin camping ahead of their big tournament (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.

On Monday, 1st January, 2024, the team released its final 27-man squad to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations, which raised some eyebrows about some important players being left out of the squad.

A handful of the players opened camp as of Monday evening, 1st January 2024. 14 players led by captain Dede Ayew touched down at the Kumasi International Airport.

Some of the notable players alongside Dede Ayew were Ernest Nuamah and Gideon Mensah.

Mohammed Kudus and Inaki Williams will be joining the 14 other players later to gear up the momentum in the squad as the team looks to start their first prep before heading to Cote d’Ivoire.

Ghana will take on the Brave Warriors of Namibia in a warm-up game in Kumasi on Monday, 8th January, 2024 before jetting off to Abidjan two days later for the tournament.

The friendly match will serve as an avenue for the technical team to monitor the progress and fitness levels of the players before they jet off to Côte d’Ivoire.

The Black Stars are drawn in same Group as record holders Egypt, Cape Verde Islands and Mozambique.

Ghana will open her group account against Cape Verde Islands on Sunday, 14th January before taking on Egypt on 18th January, 2024, before signing off against Mozambique in the final Group B game on Monday, 22nd January, 2024.
