Popular media personality, Blakk Rasta is not chirpy Okay FM’s presenter, Abeiku Santana berated Pizzaman CEO for jailing two workers who stole from him.
The convicts, Seidu Karim and Rashid Abdullah were sentenced after they were found guilty of stealing 20 boxes of chicken wings and two gallons of vegetable cooking oil from the restaurant’s warehouse in Kumasi, Ghana.
The employees were handed down five years of imprisonment.
Abeiku Santana has, however, berated Christian Boakye Yiadom – the founder and CEO of one of the fastest-growing Ghanaian-owned Fast Food chains – for taking harsh punishment on the poor workers.
According to the radio presenter, the CEO shouldn’t have reported the matter to law enforcement but instead, could have explored less punitive ways of handling the case such as deducting the cost of the stolen items from the salary of the culprits.
In reaction to Abeiku Santana’s assertion, even though Blakk Rasta tried to restrain himself from commenting on the matter because of the respect he has for the popular media personality as a colleague and a respected voice in the space, he eventually warned Kwame Despite, the owner of Despite Group of Companies, and the other bosses at the media house, to put CCTV cameras around him [Abeiku Santana] to monitor his dealings.
The ‘Serwaa Akoto’ crooner said that this warning was because the drivetime show host of Okay FM was glorifying theft on his show.
‘My brother, this is what we’re talking about – people have no respect for the employer anymore, yet they are the same people who walk around crying that there is unemployment. Two members of Pizzaman worked for this company, where there is no evidence that they were denied their salaries. There was no evidence that they were ever maltreated. Now within a period of two years, they gradually stole up to 20 cartons of chicken wings.
They stole a lot of gallons of oil. Now, If I were Kwame Despite, I would start getting very shocked and frightened at Abeiku Santana and at the same time, I would start putting CCTV wherever Abeiku Santana is around Kwame Despite. Because this is glorifying theft,’ Blakk Rasta said.
Blakk Rasta further lamented the attitude of people stealing at their workplaces right from the presidency down to the common man which is getting out of hand.
“Right from the Presidency, everytime, all the way down to the common man, we hear about thievery – stealing night and day. It looks like everytime in this country, we don’t have a democracy, what we have is a kleptocracy, a government of thieves,“ he further complained.
