Ghanaian Blogger, Augustus Koranteng Kyei also known as Kobby Kyei has called for a collaborative stakeholder engagement for the social media space.
Speaking in an interview on TV3, the blogger emphasized the need for some regulation of the content creation space or social media to protect content creators.
According to him, the non-regulation of the space has led to many destructive happenings on social media luring to disadvantage of content creators.
“A lot of people have graduated from school and have capitalized on social media and it is saving the unemployment rate. What are the policy makers doing in making sure that [ the social media space is safe]. I think that we should make it a point to meet some stakeholders on the content creation space because Warris was complaining about the Paypal and all that.
I would love for Vice-President Dr. Bawumia to meet some stakeholders in the content creation space to promote and facilitate our work – @KobbyKyei_ on the financial benefits of social media.#TheAfternoonShow pic.twitter.com/ukIO1Zc8FL

“People are also messing up in the space and they are getting a lot of numbers whether it is benefiting people or destroying people, you have no clue. So, I believe that the policy makers should have a conversation about how they can meet stakeholders in the content creation space or social media…there is a lot of money in the space and so they must protect us,” he said on The Afternoon Show, Monday, February 19.
Kobby Kyei also advocated for education on the social media space to young ones at the basic level. He said social media is the “new era” and the youth can take advantage to succeed in life.
“To GES, I think that they must also educate the young ones coming from basic to senior high school and to university. Don’t always try to teach them to apply for jobs after school. They need to know that social media is not always standing in front of your camera and shaking your body,” he added.
Kobby Kyei joined Anita Akufo and Godwin Namboh on The Afternoon Show on Monday to discuss the financial benefits of social media and how the youth can take advantage of this tool to benefit society.
