Britney Spears has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation facility, weeks after she was arrested in California on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Her representative confirmed the singer checked into treatment on Sunday, describing the move as part of an effort to address recent events and support her wellbeing. The development comes ahead of her scheduled court appearance in California later this month.
Spears was arrested on 4 March after California Highway Patrol officers said she was driving “erratically at a high rate of speed”. Authorities said she showed signs of impairment and underwent field sobriety tests after being stopped. Following the incident, her representative called the situation “completely inexcusable” and said her family would work on a “needed plan” to support her recovery.
