Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy has been described by the Recording Academy, the organisers of the Grammy Awards, as the biggest artiste in Africa.
With four nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards, Burna Boy has cemented his status as one of the most globally recognized African musicians.
In a statement congratulating Burna Boy and other nominees, the Grammys noted that “there is not a bigger star in Afrobeats or even the whole of Africa itself than Burna Boy.”
The self-styled African Giant has nabbed two consecutive Best Global Album Grammy nods for his albums Twice as Tall and African Giant and has collaborated with global stars such as Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber.
Unfortunately, Ghanaian music fans were disappointed to learn that Stonebwoy missed out on a coveted spot in the Grammy Awards nominations for his latest album, 5th Dimension. Despite high hopes and positive expectations, it appears that Stonebwoy’s dream of a Grammy nomination will have to wait for now.
The Grammy nomination list features some prominent names in the African music scene. Notable mentions include Nigerian superstars Davido and Asake.
