The 79th Cannes Film Festival is set to conclude on Saturday, May 23, 2026, with acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook leading the Competition Jury as it unveils this year’s Palme d’Or winners.
The Closing Ceremony will once again be hosted by French actress Eye Haïdara, who also presided over the festival’s opening night on May 12.
The prestigious awards to be handed out include the Palme d’Or, Grand Prix, Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, and Best Actor. Presenters for the evening include Geena Davis, Xavier Dolan, Pierfrancesco Favino, Gael García Bernal, Nadine Labaki, and Zoe Saldaña.
Scottish actress Tilda Swinton will present the coveted Palme d’Or to the festival’s top film.
This year’s competition lineup features 22 films from some of world cinema’s most celebrated auteurs, including Pedro Almodóvar’s Amarga Navidad, Asghar Farhadi’s Parallel Tales, James Gray’s Paper Tiger, Hamaguchi Ryusuke’s All of a Sudden, Koreeda Hirokazu’s Sheep In The Box, and Paweł Pawlikowski’s Fatherland.
The ceremony will also spotlight the Short Film Palme d’Or and the Caméra d’Or awards, with juries led respectively by Carla Simón and Monia Chokri.
A special moment of the evening will see legendary entertainer Barbra Streisand honoured with an Honorary Palme d’Or. Although she will not attend the ceremony in person, French screen icon Isabelle Huppert will accept the honour on her behalf and deliver a tribute celebrating her remarkable career.
