The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that experienced Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz will arrive in the country within days for his official unveiling as head coach of the Black Stars.
According to Communications Director Henry Asante Twum, the 73-year-old has agreed to a short-term deal to lead Ghana into the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Queiroz replaces Otto Addo, who was dismissed in March following disappointing friendly defeats to Austria and Germany.
Queiroz brings a wealth of international experience, having previously managed Egypt, Colombia, and Oman. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to guide Ghana through its fifth World Cup appearance.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Asante Twum revealed that the coach will outline his vision, expectations, and ambitions during a press conference upon arrival.
Preparations for the tournament will begin next month with a friendly against Mexico, followed by matches against Wales, Panama, England, and Croatia during the competition.
After early exits at the 2014 and 2022 tournaments, Ghana will be aiming for a stronger showing under Queiroz’s leadership.
