The Central Tongu Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sued Mr Dramani Selorm Dzramado, an Independent Parliamentary Candidate for Central Tongu for using NDC’s paraphernalia, flags for his campaign.
Mr Brilliant Farhad Ibn Okudzeto, NDC Constituency Communications Officer, in a suit filed at the District Magistrate Court, Dabala and made available to Ghana News Agency claimed Mr Dzramado had without the consent of the party, been using the logo and the image of former President John Dramani Mahama and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the NDC, in designing his posters and banners.
It said not only would the act potentially cause voter confusion but would also be detrimental to the rightful candidate, Mr Alexander Gabby Roosevelt Hottordze, Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, who got re-elected on May 13, 2023, to represent the NDC in the December 7 polls.
The applicant in the suit thus, sought from the court orders that the defendant be made to “remove all banners, billboards, and posters with the logo and image of the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, which the Defendant/Respondent is using for his parochial interest and at the detriment of the chances of the party in the 2024 general elections.”
“An order of the Honourable Court to compel the Defendant who is an independent candidate for Central Tongu Constituency to direct his supporters, assigns, and sympathisers to stop using the paraphernalia and images of the NDC Party.
The Court is also to compel the Defendant, his supporters, assigns and sympathisers to stop publishing any poster designed with the logo, or images of the NDC Party’s presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections, it added.
