The TnA Stadium in Tarkwa will host the ceremonial opening of the 2026/27 domestic football season when Medeama SC face Nations FC in the 2026 Champion of Champions on Sunday, August 30.The fixture will bring together Ghana’s two reigning domestic champions, with Medeama entering the contest as Ghana Premier League champions and Nations FC as MTN FA Cup winners.Medeama secured the league title last season and will now look to add another trophy to their cabinet before beginning their defence of the Ghana Premier League crown.Nations FC, meanwhile, will make the trip to Tarkwa after lifting the MTN FA Cup and will be determined to underline their progress by beating the country’s league champions.The Champion of Champions traditionally pits the winners of the Ghana Premier League against the MTN FA Cup holders and serves as the curtain-raiser for the new domestic campaign.For both clubs, however, the fixture offers more than an opportunity to lift silverware. It provides an early test of their squads, tactical plans and readiness ahead of another demanding season.The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to begin over the weekend of September 47, giving Medeama and Nations FC an opportunity to build momentum before their league campaigns get underway.
