Christians across Ghana have joined millions of believers around the world in celebrating Palm Sunday on Sunday, April 13, 2025. The day marks a significant moment on the Christian liturgical calendar, ushering in the start of Holy Week—a time of reflection on the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, just days before His crucifixion. As recorded in the Gospels, Jesus rode into the city on a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9. He was greeted by a jubilant crowd who laid palm branches and garments along His path, shouting “Hosanna” in reverence and praise.
In Tema, the Holy Spirit Fire Center Assembly of God (HSFC, AG) marked the occasion with a vibrant street procession led by children from the Children’s Ministry. Holding palm branches and singing Hosanna songs, the children reenacted the biblical event with great enthusiasm. As part of the celebration, they also shared the Gospel with passersby, reminding them of the death of Jesus and its significance for humanity.
Following the procession, the children participated in a special lesson centered on Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. During an interaction with the Children’s Ministry, the Senior Pastor of HSFC, Rev. Desmond Anderson, encouraged the children to emulate the humility of Christ.

“Be humble in all your dealings,” Rev. Anderson advised. “Never look down on anyone or consider others inferior. Show respect to everyone and walk faithfully before God.”
Children’s Ministry teacher, Portia Austin Fynn, who also led the children in prayer, echoed the message, stressing the importance of cultivating a heart of humility in the Christian journey.

The Palm Sunday celebration at HSFC, AG, served not only as a joyful commemoration but also as a meaningful opportunity to teach children valuable Christian values rooted in the life and example of Jesus Christ.
