Grounded in the belief that true beauty is about making people feel valued and confident, the students and staff of Chriselle School of Cosmetology recently spent a transformative day volunteering and donating essential supplies to the Nyamedua Children’s Home in Accra.

The outreach, which forms part of the institution’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) brought together beauty services, donations and quality time with the children and caregivers at the home.
During the exercise, hairdressing students put their skills to work, treating the girls to creative braiding styles, including cornrows, rasta and kinky braids, while styling others with trendy gel waves. Both the children and their dedicated caregivers were also treated to professional manicure, cuticle care and nail polishing.
To further support the home’s daily operations, the school donated a generous stockpile of essential items, including bags of rice, vegetable oil, spaghetti, sardines, bottled water, soft drinks and crucial sanitation supplies such as detergents, disinfectants and toiletries.
Beyond providing premium beauty services, the Chriselle team brought a joyful atmosphere that sparked immediate bonds with the children, leaving them with memorable experiences they will remember forever.
The visiting team highly commended the management of Nyamedua Children’s Home, noting the neat environment, excellent care given to the children and the inspiring discipline of the older students who were rigorously preparing for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E.).
For the cosmetology students, the outreach was a practical lesson in empathy and social responsibility.
Founder of Chriselle School of Cosmetology, Christiana Formedi, underscored the significance of education in community development, making it a collective responsibility of all and sundry.
“Education and community development are collective responsibilities; and when people come together to support and uplift others, especially children, we create meaningful change that can shape a better future for generations to come,” she said.

Mrs. Formedi emphasised that the initiative is core to the school’s mission of nurturing compassionate professionals, urging the general public to embrace small, consistent acts of kindness to support vulnerable communities.
The management of the orphanage commended the group for the benevolent gesture, stressing that the orphanage mainly relied on donations; hence, the initiative by the group to uplift the children during the day was one that would impact the lives of the children.
Nyamedua Children’s Home is a non-governmental institution established in 2004 by Paul Anaba at the Adenta Municipality with a mission to provide care, protection and a stable environment for children who have been deprived of a normal family life.
