Ghanaian left-back Patrick Kpozo has officially parted ways with Czech topflight side FC Baník Ostrava after both parties agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
The 28-year-old defender leaves the club after spending almost three years in the Czech Republic topflight following his arrival in the summer of 2023.
Kpozo, a product of Inter Allies FC, has enjoyed a journeyman career across Europe, featuring for clubs such as AIK Fotboll, Östersunds FK and FC Sheriff Tiraspol before joining Banik Ostrava.
In an official statement confirming his departure, the Czech club praised the Ghanaian defender for his contributions during his stay.
“The former Ghana international played a total of 56 league matches for Baník, scoring three goals and providing six assists, and made another ten starts in European cups in the preliminary rounds of the Europa League and the Conference League,” the club stated.
“However, his workload has decreased this season, and he made his last start in November at Slavia. Therefore, both parties agreed to terminate the contract six months before the end of the contract.
“Thank you for your services and we wish you good luck in your future career!”
Despite leaving Banik Ostrava, Kpozo is expected to continue his playing career elsewhere as the experienced left-back is not considering retirement anytime soon.
On the international stage, Kpozo earned his first senior call-up to the Black Stars in March 2023 under former head coach Chris Hughton for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Angola and has made two appearances for Ghana.
