Ghana midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has opened up about his long battle with injuries, insisting he never doubted his ability to return to the pitch as he begins a new chapter with German Bundesliga 2 side VfL Osnabrck.The 28-year-old joined the Lower Saxony club as a free agent after a difficult spell at Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, where an ACL injury and other setbacks severely limited his playing time.”The past few years have been a very difficult time for me. But I never lost faith in my ability to return to the pitch,” Kyereh said in his first official interview after joining Osnabrck.Kyereh’s move to Osnabrck reunites him with head coach Timo Schultz, who previously coached the Ghanaian during his most productive spell at FC St Pauli.”I know Timo from our successful time together at FC St. Pauli and I know how he wants his team to play football and gradually getting back to my best level,” Kyereh said.The reunion is a significant factor in Kyereh’s decision to join Osnabrck, as he looks to rediscover the form that made him one of the most exciting midfielders in the Bundesliga 2.Kyereh enjoyed an impressive spell under Schultz at St. Pauli, registering 12 goals and 10 assists in the 2021-2022 season. His performances earned him a move to Freiburg and established him as a key player for the Black Stars.However, his time at Freiburg was derailed by injuries, limiting his opportunities and preventing him from reaching his full potential. Now, reunited with Schultz, Kyereh is hopeful of rebuilding his career and returning to his best level.
