On-air personality Nana Romeo has disclosed that the recent protests against the government over its handling of the galamsey menace by members of the Democracy Hub are unnecessary

The Accra FM presenter expressed his views: “The entire demonstration was a waste of time and energy; it won’t yield any results.” This perspective sparked considerable debate as he dissected the intentions and execution of the protests.

Nana Romeo criticized the protest organizers, highlighting a crucial point about communication with the authorities: “You went to the police to inform them of the protest, you gave them a route, and the police told you that the route you used was not right. Yet you insisted on taking that route.”

His remarks reflect a belief that the protestors failed to follow necessary procedures and regulations, ultimately undermining their cause.

He elaborated on the situation’s irony, asserting that while demonstrators called for governmental change, they were unwilling to adhere to governmental protocols themselves.

“The government is doing something you don’t think is right. You want to give orders to the government yet you do not want to receive orders,” he pointed out, suggesting that a lack of understanding and respect for the established processes could hinder the protesters’ goals.

In his closing remarks, he recognized the potential value of protests but maintained that the individuals leading them were not equipped for the task.
