The British Ghanaian female producer/artist has shared a new song to kickstart her year. Produced by herself, Dessireé captures different elements of music, ranging from Alt-Soul/R&B influences as well as Afro-beats to make “Have You Forgotten About Me”, a record conceived and created entirely by the multi-talented artiste.
The song takes listeners on a musical journey, tackling how it feels to let someone go to a realization and assurance of your worth, a trademark that runs through her writing skills. Dessireé is known for making songs that express what it feels and sounds like to be a new-age artist of the African diaspora. Her identity influences her songs, giving us a Westernized and culturally African vibe.
Accompanied by a Visualizer, which was shot by Cue with creative direction handled by Dessireé, she hits the busy parts of Ghana’s capital, Accra, performing amid all the chaos. She described the song as a “A ballad on and off the dancefloor. My fusion of R&B and Afrobeats”.
