International DJ and producer Chloe Caillet has been awarded damages and legal costs after being injured by falling brickwork outside a London café, with a court ruling she was not dishonest about her injury claim.

The incident happened in June 2018 outside the Kipferl Café in North Kensington, London, when a section of brick cornice fell and struck her as she checked her phone. She suffered injuries to her neck, shoulder, knee and feet, along with reported psychological effects.

Caillet later sued the building owners for nearly £100,000, claiming she was unable to work for six months. However, the defendants argued she had continued performing and attending international events during that period, accusing her of dishonesty over lost earnings.

Following a trial at the Mayor’s and City of London County Court, the judge accepted she had been injured but rejected the full loss-of-earnings claim, finding she had returned to some work sooner than stated. She was awarded around £14,000 in compensation, while the building owners were ordered to pay £75,000 towards her legal costs.
