Canadian rapper Drake has hosted the third annual edition of his Strong Women, Stronger Drinks event, an initiative aimed at celebrating and supporting women making an impact in different fields.

The event, held on Tuesday at the Casa Loma mansion in Toronto, saw invited guests receive welcome gifts, with social media posts showing that each attendee was given $1,000 in cash. Drake also followed through on his promise to “change some lives”, with viral clips showing him gifting some attendees cash prizes of $50,000 and $100,000.

The rapper also raffled off luxury vehicles during the event, with one guest winning a brand new BMW, while Toronto Raptors reporter Kayla Grey received a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. During a speech at the gathering, Drake said the idea for Strong Women, Stronger Drinks was inspired by a women-focused networking event he attended around 2007 and 2008, which encouraged connection and support among women.

Drake said the event was created to bring together women from different industries to network, share experiences and celebrate their achievements. The gathering comes during a busy year for the rapper, who released his ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR projects in May. The releases saw him become the first artist to occupy the top three positions on the Billboard 200 chart.
