Dutch football legend Marco van Basten has rated Mohammed Kudus higher than Manchester United’s Brazilian winger Antony.
Van Basten’s comments come as Antony has struggled to find his form since his €100 million transfer from Ajax to United in the summer, scoring only four goals in as many appearances.
On the other hand, Kudus has been in top form for Ajax this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions and producing many brilliant moments in games. He was also Ghana’s best player at the World Cup in Qatar.
Van Basten praised Kudus for his technical ability and footballing intelligence, calling him a much better player than Antony.
“I find Mohammed Kudus a much better football player than Antony,” Van Basten said on Ziggo Sport on Monday evening.
“Antony has his skills, but he is confused with the things he is trying to do! Kudus has much better technique and he knows what he is doing. Antony may be faster, but Kudus is smarter and more technical. He is much more of a footballer, you can place him anywhere on the pitch, an all-rounder for the team.”
Van Basten went on to say that he enjoys watching Kudus play more than Antony, and he is a more fun player to watch. The comments from the Dutch legend are likely to be received well by Ajax fans, who have seen Kudus become a key player for the team this season.
