The Juvenile Court in Accra has ordered that Elrad Salifu Amoako, the 16-year-old son of Archbishop Salifu Amoako, be held in custody following his involvement in a tragic accident in East Legon that resulted in the loss of two young girls’ lives. The court session on November 1, 2024, carefully outlined conditions for his remand to ensure both compliance and care.
Elrad, who was driving a Jaguar SUV during the accident, must reappear in court on November 7, 2024. As part of his bail conditions, he’s required to turn in his Ghanaian and U.S. passports by November 4, 2024, to prevent any travel during the court proceedings. Additionally, to ensure his health is monitored, the court has arranged for a medical check-up at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on the same day. Should any urgent health concerns arise while he’s in custody, Elrad will have access to immediate care at the Police Hospital.
The accident, which happened on October 12, 2024, involved a collision between Elrad’s Jaguar SUV and a Honda Acura, leading to a fire that tragically claimed the lives of the two girls. This heartbreaking incident has drawn public attention, prompting discussions around road safety and young drivers’ responsibilities.
