The road to the 2026 MTN Elite Under-19 Championship has officially begun after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) conducted the tournament draw at its headquarters in Accra on Friday, August 7.
The draw paired the 10 Regional Football Association (RFA) Under-19 teams into two groups of five, setting the stage for an exciting second edition of the competition, which will be held from August 24 to September 4, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Defending champions Eastern Region headline Group A, where they will face Volta Region, Ashanti Region, Western Region and Upper West Region in their quest to retain the title.
Meanwhile, 2025 runners-up Brong Ahafo Region have been drawn in Group B alongside Central Region, Upper East Region, Greater Accra Region and Northern Region, with their sights firmly set on going one step further this year.
The 11-day championship will once again provide a platform for Ghana’s brightest young footballers to showcase their abilities, sharpen their technical skills and stake a claim for future opportunities with the national youth teams and professional clubs.
Backed by MTN Ghana, the competition has become a flagship initiative in the GFA’s youth development programme, offering a structured pathway for emerging talents to progress from grassroots football to the elite level.
Beyond the pursuit of silverware, the championship is designed to cultivate values such as discipline, teamwork, leadership and resilience, equipping young players with the qualities needed to excel both on and off the pitch.
As a cornerstone of the GFA’s “Power to the Youth” agenda, the MTN Elite U-19 Championship continues to underscore the Association’s commitment to building a sustainable future for Ghanaian football by investing in the country’s next generation of stars.
