The Sports Ministry has made efforts to convince Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah to represent Ghana, according to his father, Edward Nketiah Snr.Speaking on Joy Prime TV, Nketiah Snr confirmed that contact has been made with the 26-year-old striker as speculation over a potential switch to the Black Stars continues.”I know there’s been approaches from the Sports Ministry and a few others, and that’s great,” he said.”He sustained an injury this time around, so who knows. But when the decision comes, he has to make it, I’m sure he’s mature now to do it himself.”Nketiah remains eligible to play for Ghana despite earning a senior England cap in a friendly against Australia in 2023. FIFA rules allow players to switch allegiance if their senior appearances were only in non-competitive matches. The former Arsenal striker holds the record as England U21’s all-time leading scorer with 16 goals but has not featured in subsequent senior England squads.Reports have linked him with a move to the Black Stars in recent years, with interest from both Ghana and the player’s camp. However, discussions have been slowed by a serious hamstring injury suffered late in the 2025/26 season with Crystal Palace.
