Empowering Upcoming Women (EmpUW) is an NGO dedicated to nurturing and empowering young women. They provide coaching and mentorship, connecting aspiring individuals with accomplished women, fostering unimpeded success and breaking down barriers to help women achieve their goals and aspirations.
On 2nd November 2023, EmpUW launched the sheUnimpeded at Accra Technical University. This initiative is a groundbreaking program aimed at eliminating obstacles that hinder the progress of young women in tertiary education. It seeks to connect these aspiring students with experienced career professionals, equipping them with the skills, wisdom, and support needed to achieve their full potential.
With a passionate call for gender equality, Ms. Dorcas Dare, the founding Director of EmpUW emphasized that “SheUnimpeded” represents a significant step towards a world where women can pursue their ambitions without hindrance, “I firmly believe that the journey to success should be unimpeded for all,” she said.
Ms. Dare stressed the importance of women supporting women, believing that together, they can overcome barriers and shatter glass ceilings. She also expressed her gratitude for the commitment and dedication of role models and volunteer coaches who have made this initiative a reality.
Further endorsing the initiative’s significance, Mr. Martin Amoamah, the Dean of Students’ Affairs of Accra Technical University, emphasized that empowering young women is not only a matter of social justice but also an economic imperative. He acknowledged the untapped potential of women across various sectors, stating that gender equality is essential for the advancement of society.
Mr. Amoamah declared the university’s support for the “SheUnimpeded” Initiative, highlighting its commitment to coaching and empowering female students to reach unprecedented heights of success.
