Lyon manager Laurent Blanc has clarified the transfer situation of Ghana winger Ernest Nuamah indicating that the player is close to finalising a move to the French outfit.
Due to his remarkable performances, the skillful winger from FC Nordsjaelland has drawn the attention of top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Ajax Amsterdam. However, Lyon appears to be on the verge of capturing him.
After a series of negotiations, the player is expected to cost around €30m including add-ons in a record-breaking deal for both clubs.
Despite passing his medicals last week, the player has not been officially unveiled by the former Ligue 1 champions. This has raised concerns about the potential success of the much-anticipated deal as the transfer window nears its close.
Blanc has however broken his silence on the matter expressing optimism about the finalisation of the signing of the 19-year-old.
“He’s already in Lyon. I think [this] week he’ll officially be a Lyon player,” the French manager said when asked about the 19-year-old after the league game against OGC Nice on Sunday evening.
“He is a player that will bring what he’s capable of bringing. He is a player with a lot of power. He is a young player, a very young player, but he also brings us a bit of competition. Bringing competition to every position is a good thing for everyone. The more competition, the better things will be.”
On the other hand, Nuamah has already missed three consecutive matches for the Danish giants in a bid to seal the transfer.
He is however the leading scorer in the ongoing season with five goals despite playing fewer matches.
