A video circulating on social media that has sparked intense debate shows a group of women in a Nigerian community confronting and assaulting a man accused of repeatedly abusing his wife.
According to reports accompanying the footage, the incident occurred in Isiagu, where members of the Umuada (a traditional association of women from the community) decided to intervene following continous assaults the man always subjects his wife to.
The video shows the accused husband being carried in a wheelbarrow through the community before being taken to the town square.
Upon arrival, the women are seen confronting him and physically assaulting him in what many social media users have since described as an act of community justice.
Unable to defend himself against the large group, the man endured the beating as residents looked on.
