Former President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, also known as Nii Kojo Ashiefie Papanyira I, has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Hamad Kalkaba Malboum during the ongoing 24th African Seniors Athletics Championships in Accra.
The tragic passing of the Cameroonian sports administrator cast a sombre mood over the continental competition being hosted at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon. Ben Nunoo Mensah described the late president of African Athletics as a committed leader who contributed immensely to the growth and development of athletics across the continent.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the athletics fraternity, and officials of African Athletics, praying for strength during the difficult period.
The 24th African Seniors Athletics Championships has brought together top athletes from across Africa, with Ghana hosting the prestigious event amid excitement from local sports fans.
