Division One League side Okwawu United have made a significant addition to their management team by appointing Nana Kwame Dankwah.

The former Greater Accra Regional chairman of the supporters’ wing of Kotoko with his extensive experience, is expected to help the club achieve its goal of returning to the top flight.

Nana Kwame Dankwah previously served on the management team of Asante Kotoko and was the chairman of Kotoko’s Greater Accra branch of the National Circles Council.

His wealth of knowledge and leadership is anticipated to be instrumental in guiding Okwawu United back to the Ghana Premier League.

Okwawu United had an impressive season last term, finishing second in Zone 3 of the Division One League, just six points behind eventual winners, Vision FC. Despite missing out on promotion, they are poised to build on their performance in the upcoming season.

With Dankwah’s recent appointment, Okwawu United are gearing up for a successful Division One League campaign next season.

The club takes pride in nurturing and producing numerous talented players who have made significant contributions to Ghana’s football legacy. Notable alumni include Mohammed Gargo, Tony Yeboah, Fatau Dauda, and former Black Stars captain and coach Charles Akonnor.

Relegated from the top flight at the end of the 2005/06 season, Okwawu United faced further setbacks, suffering relegation to Division Two in 2017 before finally returning to Division One last year.

The two-time FA Cup champions are now focused on securing promotion to the top flight and competing once again with the top teams in the Ghana Premier League.

Nana Kwame Dankwah’s appointment marks a strategic move for Okwawu United as they aim to elevate their performance and achieve their aspirations for the upcoming season.
