Finance Minister Designate, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, stating that it has come to stay.
During his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Dr. Forson emphasized that President John Mahama has made it clear that the policy will not be cancelled, and as a Minister, there is no way he can object to what is from the Presidency.
“We have an assurance from the highest level of government to preserve the policy”. The free SHS would be improved and sustained.
The Finance Minister stated that his role involves allocating resources to the government’s priorities. According to him, the President has announced that the budget will be presented to the House for review, consideration, and approval.
“The President has said the budget will be presented to the house for them to peruse, consider and approve it”.
