There are so many compelling stories in the camp of newly crowned Ghana Premier League champions Samartex FC but perhaps one of the most heartwarming is that of Francis Getuah.

A local boy, Gyatua grew up in slums of Samreboi in the Aboi Nkwanta neighborhood and has helped his club become league champions.

He is thrilled by the big achievements which have eluded many players who have been in the league for some time now.

“I’m proud, it is not easy, others have tried but they couldn’t achieve it, this is my second season in the GPL and I have won the league title so I am very happy,” he said in an interview with 3Sports.

The attacker played 29 of the 34 Ghana Premier League games this season, scoring once. And when they lifted the title last Sunday, it was the culmination of a lifelong dream since his lower division days career started at Naajo Royals in his hometown.

This achievement he says will play a key role in influencing the next generation of talents in his hometown.

“I believe my achievements will influence the people around me, and hope my success will serve as a motivating factor for them to do better”.

Gyetuah is hoping to build on the triumph of this season as he chases more glory but even more importantly, he hopes his story inspires many kids growing up in similar circumstances like him that sports provide significant hope.

“Gyetuah is a very good player, we all admire him a lot and we wish to follow his footsteps,” a fan said.

For the striker, the success comes with a task of living an exemplary life.

“I have to live an exemplary life for the next generation of players from this community and do positive things that kids can learn from,” he indicated.

Francis Gyetuah’s journey from the slums to stardom is a shining example of the power of determination and hard work. He continues to inspire and make his community proud.
