Ghana celebrated its most distinguished citizens at the 2024 National Honours and Awards ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, December 30, 2024.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo presented awards to individuals who have made significant contributions to national development through their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.

Established in 1960, the National Honours and Awards ceremony serves as a prestigious platform to acknowledge Ghanaians who excel in diverse fields. From creativity and innovation to unwavering dedication, the awards celebrate the very essence of Ghanaian excellence.

This year’s ceremony holds particular significance as it recognizes individuals who rose to the challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instituted in 2023, the Presidential Honours and Awards for Distinguished Service honors those who displayed exceptional resilience and service during this unprecedented global crisis.

The ceremony saw distinguished group of recipients, including government officials like Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who received the Order of the Star of Ghana – Officer Awardee.

Beyond government appointees and Members of Parliament, the awards encompass individuals and institutions from various walks of life, each contributing significantly to the nation’s progress.
