The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cancelled the two-day mid-term break scheduled for Thursday, November 5, and Friday, November 6, 2026, for all basic schools across the country.
According to the Service, the decision is aimed at recovering instructional hours lost during the recent industrial action by teachers.
In a notice issued on Monday, November 2, 2026, GES Management directed all basic schools to remain open and continue normal academic activities on Thursday, November 5, and Friday, November 6.
The cancellation means pupils and teachers will not observe the previously scheduled two-day break and are expected to report to school as usual on the affected dates.
GES has consequently urged teachers, students, parents and guardians to take note of the revised arrangement and be guided accordingly.
The notice was signed by Daniel Fenyi of the Ghana Education Service Headquarters.
The Service also expressed appreciation to education stakeholders for their cooperation and continued commitment to quality education.
