The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that outstanding promotion arrears owed to teachers and other affected staff will be paid on November 16, 2026.

In a letter dated October 27, 2026, and addressed to Regional Directors of Education, the Service said efforts were underway with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to ensure the payment of the arrears.

The announcement follows delays in settling payments due to staff who qualified for promotion.

According to the letter, the Controller and Accountant-General’s payment system was temporarily closed to process October salaries, with the system expected to reopen on October 28, 2026.

The reopening will allow the necessary inputs to be made to facilitate payment to affected staff on November 16.

The GES also assured staff that discrepancies identified in payments made on October 16, 2026, would be corrected.

Management expressed regret over the delays and inconvenience caused to affected staff.

The letter, signed by Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Prof. Smile Dzisi, on behalf of the Director-General, asked Regional Directors to inform all affected staff about the payment arrangements.
