Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has urged the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to prioritise long-term development in their search for a new Black Stars head coach.Ghana are without a substantive coach following the departure of Carlos Queiroz after a disappointing start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The Black Stars suffered consecutive defeats against Ivory Coast and The Gambia, leaving them bottom of Group C without a point after two matches. With the search committee, chaired by Fred Pappoe, yet to appoint a permanent successor to Queiroz, Sannie Daara believes the next coach must be capable of building a strong foundation for the future. At this moment, the Black Stars need a coach who will build for the future, he told Asempa FM.The senior CAF media officer also called on the football authorities to consider their financial constraints when selecting the next coach. We must also look at our budget if we want to go out for a top-class coach, but building for the future is what we will need now, he added.Meanwhile, the search committee has named an interim technical team to oversee Ghanas upcoming double-header against Somalia in the third and fourth rounds of the AFCON qualifiers next month.Kim Lars Bjrkegren will lead the team as interim head coach, with Ibrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram serving as assistants. Former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda has been appointed goalkeepers coach.Ghana will be looking to revive their qualifying campaign against Somalia and improve their chances of returning to the continental showpiece after missing the previous edition in Morocco.
