The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that no betting company has been licensed to offer odds on domestic football matches as part of a wider crackdown on match-fixing.

GFA President Kurt Okraku announced the measure during the Association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress in Prampram, describing it as a key step in protecting the integrity of Ghana’s domestic game.

“No betting company has been licensed to place odds on domestic games,” Okraku told delegates.

The decision comes as football authorities around the world continue to grapple with match-fixing and betting-related manipulation, which have increasingly come under scrutiny in recent years.

The GFA says restricting betting markets on domestic fixtures is intended to reduce financial incentives that could encourage attempts to influence match outcomes.

The Association believes the move will help create a more transparent environment for clubs, players, coaches, officials and supporters while safeguarding the credibility of the Ghana Premier League.

The announcement forms part of a broader integrity strategy as the GFA seeks to strengthen the league’s commercial appeal and international reputation.

The 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to begin on 5 September.
