The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has strongly denied allegations that players are required to pay money to secure places in the country’s national teams and says it is considering legal action against those behind the claims.

In a statement issued on July 7, the GFA described allegations circulating on social media as false and defamatory, insisting that it neither demands nor receives money from players for national team selection or any other purpose.

The statement follows a viral video in which a woman made allegations regarding the Black Stars’ player selection process.

According to the GFA, the selection of players rests solely with the respective national team head coaches and not the Association’s leadership or any of its officials.

The Association also clarified that player bonuses and appearance fees are paid directly by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation into players’ individual bank accounts, stressing that it does not handle or process such payments.

The GFA challenged anyone making the allegations to provide credible evidence, including the identities of those involved and details of any alleged payments.

It added that the matter has been referred to its legal team, while Bigscout Media has been served with a legal notice demanding the removal of the video and a public apology.
