The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released the first tranche of its annual GH120,000 financial support package to all 48 clubs competing in the Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) Division One League.

The payment is part of the GFAs sponsorship partnership with Universal Merchant Bank and is intended to help clubs manage the financial demands of participating in Ghanas second tier of domestic football.

Each of the 48 clubs is entitled to GH120,000 under the annual support arrangement. The funding is designed to assist with essential expenses, strengthen administrative operations and provide a more sustainable basis for running the clubs throughout the season.

The GFA said the intervention would help reduce some of the financial pressure facing clubs, including the cost of routine operations, player welfare, logistics and administration.

The Division One League requires clubs to make significant commitments away from the pitch, and the financial support is intended to assist them in meeting those responsibilities while competing in the league.

In addition to the direct payments, the GFA has confirmed that it will continue to cover a number of key match-day expenses connected to Division One League fixtures.

Those costs include the fees of referees, Match Commissioners, venue media officers and cameramen. By absorbing those expenses, the association is providing further relief from the financial responsibilities involved in organising league matches.

The GFA said its partnership with Universal Merchant Bank formed part of wider efforts to improve the financial sustainability of the competition and support the development of football at the second tier of Ghanas domestic league structure.

The release of the first tranche reaffirms the associations commitment to providing practical financial assistance to the clubs and improving their operational capacity during the season.
