A delegation led by National Juvenile Committee Chairman Joe Salam Abubakar has intensified Ghana’s talent identification drive with a visit to the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.
The scouting team included Ghana U-20 head coach Maxwell Konadu and U-16 assistant coach Awudu Issaka, who were in the area to assess emerging prospects. They attended the semifinals of the Soyalana Community Gala, a grassroots tournament that continues to serve as a key platform for discovering young football talent.
Also present was Emmanuel Aidoo, head coach of Eleven Wonders FC, as the delegation engaged local stakeholders and evaluated players.
The visit followed an invitation from Tolon MP Habib Iddriss, whose support has boosted youth football in the area, including the construction of an AstroTurf facility.
Sixteen communities participated in this year’s competition, providing a platform for young players to showcase their abilities. Beyond scouting, officials also advised players on discipline and career development.
The exercise forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s efforts to expand its talent pool nationwide.
