The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has received 45 military utility vehicles under the government’s ongoing retooling programme to improve troop mobility and strengthen operational readiness.

The vehicles were received on Friday, October 16, 2026, as part of efforts to equip the military to effectively discharge its constitutional mandate.

The fleet comprises 15 KIA utility vehicles, 15 four-by-four vehicles and 15 six-by-six Troop Carrying Vehicles (TCVs).

The vehicles are expected to improve troop transportation, facilitate movement across difficult terrain and enable the Army to respond more swiftly to operational demands.

The acquisition forms part of the government’s broader efforts to modernise the Ghana Armed Forces, strengthen national security and enhance the military’s capacity to protect Ghana’s territorial integrity.

The latest delivery follows other acquisitions by the military this year aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the various services.

The Ghana Navy commissioned the Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) PRU on February 10, 2026, while the Ghana Air Force took delivery of an Airbus H175 helicopter from France on March 5, 2026.
