Ghana will head into the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the lowest-ranked African nation at the tournament following the release of FIFA’s latest world rankings ahead of next week’s kick-off.
The Black Stars are currently ranked 73rd in the world and 14th in Africa, placing them behind all other African representatives set to compete at the global showpiece. The latest rankings reflect Ghana’s difficult run of form in 2026, with the team managing just one draw and suffering five defeats in six matches.
Despite their struggles, Ghana remain hopeful of making an impact at the World Cup and upsetting higher-ranked opponents during the tournament.
Meanwhile, Morocco continue to lead the way for Africa after climbing to seventh in the world rankings. The Atlas Lions remain the continent’s highest-ranked team, building on their impressive performances in recent years.
The Black Stars will be aiming to put their disappointing results behind them and prove their critics wrong when the World Cup gets underway.
