Ghana forward Francis Amuzu scores in Anderlecht’s 3-1 win over Mechelen

Ghanaian forward Francis Amuzu scored for Anderlecht as they defeated Mechelen 3-1 on Saturday during matchday four of the Belgian Pro League.

Amuzu’s goal, which put Anderlecht ahead 2-1, was his first of the season in two league appearances. The match took place at the Veoliastadion Achter De Kazerne.

In the 23rd minute, Lion Lauberbach gave Mechelen the lead with a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner.

Amuzu’s compatriot Majeed Ashimeru was an unused substitute for Anderlecht.

With three minutes remaining in the first half, Ludwig Augustinsson equalized for Anderlecht with a close-range shot to the bottom left corner. The goal was assisted by Zanka following a corner.

Five minutes after the break, Francis Amuzu put Anderlecht ahead with a shot from a difficult angle on the left to the top left corner. The goal was assisted by Yari Verschaeren, also following a corner.

Théo Leoni sealed the victory for Anderlecht with a close-range goal to the bottom right corner, assisted by Mario Stroeykens’ through ball.
