The Ghanaian government has intensified efforts to ensure strong support for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup by assisting Ghanaians in the diaspora to secure tickets for the national team’s group-stage matches.

The Ghana High Commission in Canada announced that it had been directed by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to gather details of Ghanaians interested in attending Ghana’s opening Group L match against Panama in Toronto on June 17. The initiative follows the allocation of 1,000 tickets for Ghanaian supporters living abroad.

According to the statement, fans who have been unable to obtain tickets independently have been asked to submit their details, including email addresses, for onward transmission to the Ministry.

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has previously stated that the programme is aimed at ensuring a strong Ghanaian presence at match venues throughout the tournament.

The government has also assured supporters in Boston and Philadelphia of free tickets for Ghana’s remaining group matches against England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

The move is expected to boost diaspora support as the Black Stars seek a successful World Cup campaign in North America.
