Ghana has officially launched the Africa Youth Championship and the ITTF Africa Training Programme at the University of Ghana, Legon, with 36 young table tennis players from across the continent participating in the event.
The programme, which got underway on Tuesday, features 36 promising athletes, including 12 representatives from Ghana, who will benefit from high-level coaching and competitive training sessions.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa to develop the next generation of elite players by providing them with advanced technical instruction and international exposure.
Hosting the championship and training programme underscores Ghana’s growing reputation as a destination for major sporting events and youth development initiatives in Africa.
The event is expected to offer participants the opportunity to sharpen their skills, gain valuable experience and prepare for future continental and international competitions while fostering stronger ties among young table tennis talents across the continent.
Officials expressed optimism that the programme will contribute significantly to the growth of table tennis in Africa.
