Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission seized 738 compressed parcels of suspected cannabis at Accra’s Swissport Terminal on July 5, 2025.
The contraband, concealed in rubber-lined bags within 40 boxes falsely labeled as food items, was destined for the United Kingdom. Two individuals were arrested during the operation, while suspects Lincoln Nii Okaija (DOB: March 27, 1979) and Kate Davidson (alias “Esi”) remain at large and are officially wanted.
This interception follows a June 24 NACOC operation in the Eastern Region targeting Akyem Oda and Akroso communities. That raid resulted in 14 arrests related to illegal drug possession and distribution. Intelligence-led surveillance preceded the crackdown, which included the closure of three licensed chemical stores for illegally selling unregistered controlled substances. Authorities confiscated significant quantities of cannabis and suspicious pharmaceutical products during the operation.
NACOC has intensified nationwide anti-drug efforts amid rising interdiction rates. The commission urges public cooperation in reporting suspicious activities, particularly concerning the whereabouts of declared fugitives. Recent operations reflect Ghana’s strengthened border controls and domestic enforcement under revised narcotics legislation.
