The Government of Ghana has pledged to support the family of 15-year-old Javits Badu Kansah Frimpong in its pursuit of justice following his fatal shooting in the Bronx, New York.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa gave the assurance during a telephone conversation with the teenager’s father, Thomas Frimpong, on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Javits, a Ghanaian teenager, was shot by unidentified assailants at about 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, while on his way to school in the Bronx.

Mr Ablakwa assured the bereaved father that the government would work with United States authorities to ensure those responsible were brought to justice.

“We will pursue justice, and we’ll make sure that those who did this do not get away with it,” he said.

The minister, speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, also extended condolences to the family, describing the incident as distressing.

“We are all saddened. We are all distraught. He did not deserve this,” he said.

Meanwhile, officials from Ghana’s Permanent Mission in New York visited the family at their residence to express condolences and assure them of the country’s solidarity and support.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it would work with the relevant US authorities to pursue justice and provide the family with appropriate legal and consular assistance.

It also called on authorities in the Bronx to conduct a thorough investigation into the killing and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The government extended its sympathies to Javits’ family, friends and loved ones in Ghana and the United States, particularly his mother, Doris Adu Gyamfi, who is in Kumasi.
